March 2024 Newsletter

What a wild few months we have had since our last update! On February 4th (Sunday), Caleb was cleaning his motorcycle when his rag got caught in the chain and pulled his thumb into it, as well. There is thankfully a hospital about 10 minutes from our house that we were able to get to for treatment. To be as least graphic as possible, the top of Caleb's right thumb to the bottom of his nail was no longer attached. He had a procedure called a cross-finger flap that Tuesday morning and was able to come home the following evening, with multiple follow-ups over the past 5 weeks. It was wonderful having Caleb home again, and just in time for Paul's 2nd birthday that Friday, February 9th!

Paul is such a joy and delight, even though we are in the thick of "terrible twos" at times. I feel like each day he does something new that brings a huge smile to our faces.

This semester has not been what Caleb anticipated with having to be out for a week due to his injury in early February, but we are grateful that Faith has individuals willing and qualified to step in to sub when needed. The last week of February was Faith Academy's International Week, where all of the different countries represented by individuals at Faith are celebrated and elementary students learn about different countries and cultures. It is a most beloved week by all Faith students, staff, alumni, and families! This year, we were able to dress Paul in an outfit from Thailand that Kristen (Caleb's mom) got for him at one of her conferences there this school year, as well as a traditional Vietnamese hat that we purchased when we were in Vietnam in 2022.

To "complete" Caleb's hand saga, he had another surgery on March 9th (Saturday) to separate his thumb and pointer finger. He is currently in recovery and will have a few more follow-up appointments with his doctors in the upcoming days and weeks.

And now, the long awaited news and update! Ruth Grace MacKay is here!! She was born this morning, March 16th at 6:14am weighing 3.2kg and measuring 46.5cm. We are so grateful for the incredible care we have received from my doctor throughout my pregnancy and birth experience. We are looking forward to Paul meeting her soon and watching them grow up together. Thank you for your continued prayers!

Last, but not least, we would like to update you on where we are at with our current support-raising goals. We are at 86% of our monthly support needs and at 23% of our one-time support. Our one-time support helps cover my delivery costs, plane tickets to return to the States for our upcoming furlough, insurance, and other potential costs that can arise. Please prayerfully consider joining our team or contributing towards our one-time support. We love you all and are so appreciative of the ways you come around us in prayer and support. Thank you!
